Armenia is one of the few secrets left in the world, as well as one of the most thrilling. Since the earliest days of recorded history, Armenia's land has been a cultural crossroad, the gateway between east and west, between north and south. The region was valued for its rich diversity. While it has primarily hot, dry summers and cold winters, Armenia's landscape also includes many micro-climates, including deserts and wetlands. Thanks to this variety of climates and terrains, Armenia has always boasted an incredibly wide range of plant and animal life.

An ancient warrior named Hayk passed into legend for winning Armenia's independence from the Assyrian empire in biblical times, and the distinctive culture that developed in this cradle of civilization was vibrant and unique. This, combined with their early adoption of Christianity amid pagan and then Muslim neighbors, allowed Armenians to retain their unique identity even through hundreds of years of occupation and rule by other empires. A vibrant love of life and country has been preserved in Armenia throughout the years to this very day.
As visitors explore the Armenian landscape, they will quickly find scores of grand and beautiful churches from throughout Christian history. The first, built in Echmiadzin, became the seat of the Armenian church when Armenia became the first country in the world to declare Christianity its national faith. Churches, cathedrals and monasteries have been built in every major Armenian architectural tradition through the past 1700 years. Many of them still stand today.
From the concerts, galleries, cafes, bars and nightclubs of Yerevan to the sheer scope of the mountains surrounding Lake Sevan to ancient monuments millennia older than the pyramids in Egypt, it's hard not to be carried away by all that Armenia has to offer - even before tasting its exquisite fruits and cuisine.

Dear Mr. Tufenkian
I have visited all of your hotels and I don't want to repeat what everybody knows, excellent food and service. But I do want to commend you as an individual who has made a great contribution in our small and young republic. I wish that we had other individuals like you as I'm sure our country would truly blossom.
