In October 2009 Philanthropist and entrepreneur James Tufenkian was singled out by Armenia's Ministry of Economy for the contributions to tourism in the developing nation made by Tufenkian Heritage Hotels. The company was awarded with a "Gold Medal" for its efforts to promote the tourism development in Armenia and to support sustainable efforts to protect, preserve and promote the country's natural, historic and cultural resources.
The 2005 December issue of Travel and Leisure introduces the magazine's Global Vision Awards, recognizing the most innovative projects and organizations that are defending the historical, cultural and ecological integrity of the traveler's world. From hundreds of candidates, Travel and Leisure editors nominated finalists in seven categories and presented them to a jury of experts. Award categories included: economic development, cultural preservation, community outreach, green/eco-hotel initiative, ecological conservation, innovation and corporate initiative. Tufenkian received received Travel &Leisure Magazine's Global Vision award for economic development -recognizing culturally responsible business efforts-related though not limited to tourism-that enhance the economy of a developing community.

Tufenkian's bakery in the airport
Tufenkian introduced its freshly baked lahmajoons and byouregs in the Yerevan's Zvartnots International airport. You can taste our delicious baked goods, such as byouregs with cheese; greens and sour flavor, as well lahmajoons with meat and spices, and cheese mixture. You can choose from the bakery's many desserts, such as our famous apple pie, Armenian Gata and date pudding.
