Debed River Gorge Birdwatching Excursion

The Debet River, which flows to the north and joins Kura River before falling into Caspian Sea, is one of the biggest and most powerful rivers in Armenia. Most of the river flows through the beautiful canyon framed by huge cliffs. For hundreds of years people have been living in the canyons of this river building historic villages, churches, and monasteries.
Even before people arrived, however, the canyon was occupied by vultures, which nested on the high cliffs. Most of these scavengers are globally endangered now, but along this river one has the chance to see three breeding species of these huge and powerful, but vulnerable birds.
On our route includes a drive from Hotel to a colony of Griffon Vultures, where we have a chance to observe six pairs of vultures at a traditional colony. At the same spot we will look for Egyptian and Bearded Vultures, as well as for other raptor, including Common and Long-legged Buzzards, Honey Buzzards, Booted and Lesser Spotted Eagles, and Peregrine Falcons. We may also see Dippers and Grey Wagtails.
The excursion will be guided by a professional ornithologist from the Acopian Center for the Environment at the American University of Armenia in Yerevan.
The cost for the tour is:

Tufenkian's bakery in the airport
Tufenkian introduced its freshly baked lahmajoons and byouregs in the Yerevan's Zvartnots International airport. You can taste our delicious baked goods, such as byouregs with cheese; greens and sour flavor, as well lahmajoons with meat and spices, and cheese mixture. You can choose from the bakery's many desserts, such as our famous apple pie, Armenian Gata and date pudding.
